Job Summary
Position: Remote - Director of Tax Full-time, permanent position
Location: Remote; legally authorized to live and work in the US
Salary range: $85K to $125K plus bonus
Job Description
As the Director of Tax for Citrine Capital, you will work closely within the Advisory teams to provide annual tax returns (federal and multiple states), tax analysis, and estimated tax payments recommendations. You will be primarily responsible for managing the tax return preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and other entity returns with minimal supervision.
Primary responsibilities:
Complete, review, and sign tax returns (federal and state**) for Citrine Capital’s clients; individuals, trusts, and businesses
**Multiple state returns for some clients and variety of states for the firm’s client base
Calculate and provide recommendations for ongoing and estimated tax payments
Meet with the Advisory team and clients to provide recommendations, cultivate relationships and build trust
Conduct technical tax research to address complex tax issues with the support of the service and management team
Write technical tax blogs, as needed, to share with current and prospective clients
Coordinate with the Advisory team in refining and improving the investment strategy of the firm
Person Specification
Relevant qualifications, skills, and experience:
Essential
Legally authorized to live and work in US
CPA or EA
5+ years of experience providing tax planning services or preparing/reviewing client work papers and tax returns
Familiar with multi-state taxation
Experience with the taxation of company equity including stock options and qualified small business stock
A drive to deliver quality work with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
They ability to simplify and explain complex tax law to clients
Mastery in monitoring deadlines and simultaneously balancing many projects with assistance from our service and management teams
Proficient in individual, business, estate, and partnership taxation, with an understanding of complex investments and the related tax implications, and/or estate, gift, and generation skipping transfer taxation
Desirable
Tax preparation experience with professional tax preparation software (Ultratax, Lacerte, Prosystems, Drake, Intuit Pro, etc) You’ll be able to determine the most appropriate software for the firm
Enthusiastic about learning new tools to create task efficiencies and automate reports
Oversee the continuous improvement of Accounting and Financial Processes and the development of the firm with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output
Knowledge of CRM database programs, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
A background rich in community service, nonprofit work, and volunteering
Additional attributes:
The ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently
Experience working in a hyper-growth environment and an understanding that “scaling” isn’t a bad word
Majority of our clients are in CA, so being available during PST hours Monday - Friday is typical work time
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $85K to $125K plus bonus (depending on experience)
Holidays: Citrine is closed on all market holidays
